About Dover Public Schools Special Services Department
Welcome to the Dover Special Education website! We hope you find this resource helpful as you navigate through the complex special education system. Here’s a brief overview of the special education department at the Dover Public Schools.
The Office of Special Education (OSE) implements state and federal laws and regulations governing special education to ensure that students with disabilities in New Jersey receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).
At Dover, we provide programs, placements, and related services to meet the needs of children who are eligible to receive special education services. The Dover School District offers various educational programs and services for students ages three (3) to 21. Parents or other appropriate persons may refer children who are experiencing significant difficulties. Babies from birth to three (3), who are thought to have a developmental delay, may receive assistance from the Early Intervention Program. Parents should contact the Early Intervention toll free number at 888-653-4463 to access this service.
We hope this website is a valuable resource to parents and educators as you navigate through the special education process.
