About Us: Athletics/Health and Physical Education
Welcome to the Dover School District's Athletics and Health and Physical Education Department, under the leadership of Dominique Dixon, Director of Athletics and Supervisor of Health and Physical Education. Our department is committed to nurturing well-rounded students who excel in all aspects of life, both within and beyond our school settings.
Our Mission Our mission is to provide a comprehensive physical education program that fosters the development of high-character leaders ready to make a positive impact in their communities. We prioritize a holistic approach, ensuring every student receives support not only physically, but also socially and emotionally. Our athletics program is designed to help each individual reach their fullest potential, promoting excellence in all areas of life.
Our Goals We are dedicated to connecting with students to inspire and instill a spirit of personal growth and lifelong learning. Our goal is to build and mobilize future leaders by helping them discover their purpose and embrace the journey of personal development.
Recent Successes and Projects We are proud to announce our recent collaboration with the New York Jets through the NFL Play 60 program, a remarkable initiative focusing on promoting physical activity among our 6th-grade students. Additionally, in alignment with the district's goal to foster a positive climate and culture, our department has developed a selection criteria for students to participate in an experiential learning trip to Stony Acres. This program is designed to enhance students' social and emotional learning (SEL) through collaborative problem-solving and teamwork, facilitated by engaging in physical challenges set in a natural environment.
At Dover, we are passionate about equipping our students with the tools they need for success, both on the field and in life. Join us as we continue to strive for excellence and prepare our students to be leaders of tomorrow.
